Are you part of the 88 percent?
In June of 2012, a Harris Interactive Poll conducted by U.S. English found that 88% of Americans believe that English should be the official language of the United States. This includes 96% of Republicans, 83% of Democrats, 89% of Independents and even 83% of Hispanics.
Unfortunately, at the state and national levels, our government is actively sending an “English optional” message by promoting foreign language usage in more and more official capacities – and refusing to declare English as the official language of the United States. Unless we change the policy of our government and pressure Congress to declare English as our official language, it is only a matter of time before America becomes divided along linguistic lines.
